Lauca National Park it is one of the top tourist attractions in Chile. People would most likely go there to see Lago Chungara, one of the world’s highest lakes. They would be able to see all the mountains and lakes, while going along the trails. The prices for the National Park are starting at $1,756.00. Transportation is in minivans that seat 6-8 people, and any smaller families would be going in a regualar car.

Easter Island is a volcanic island; it’s the territory of Chile. It is the shape of a triangle because of the three island surrounding it; Terevake, Poike, and Rano Kau. The island is extremely rich with its natural beauty and human made beauty. I think people would enjoy coming to Easter Island to see how amazing and beautiful it looks. They would see the three volcanoes and its famous made statues. It cost approximately $800 to go, including there and back. You would want to bring a light weight jacket, heavy socks, good hiking shoes, & clothes that you don’t mind getting dirt

Puritama Hot Springs


Puritama Hot springs are pools of thermal waters that are around 30°C (86°F). It’s located in the desert owned by the Hotel Explora. The springs are about 30 kilometers from San Pedro. It’s a beautiful place with a lot of vegetation. There are bathrooms, places to get food, dressing rooms, and campsites at the facility. It’s located in a nice area and is a loved place to visit by tourists. If you were to see the springs you would see a natural looking place with vegetation surrounding all over. You can sit in the springs and relax while they are known to heal and renew.
There are no public buses that go to Puritama Hot Springs. You need to book a tour or have a private source of transportation. There are places in San Pedro where you can rent cars to drive to the hot springs. For an all round trip to the springs it would cost $19.800 ($1.54 in US dollars). This includes a bus pickup and full transportation. This also includes entrance fees, passenger transportation insurance, and a bilingual guide.

Foods

One of the many foods people enjoy eating in Chile are Sopaipillas. Sopaipillas are pumpkin-spiced dough pieces that are deep fried then covered in a brown sugar syrup or powdered sugar. The people in Chile usually like to eat these treats on rainy, cold days. The main ingredients in Sopaipillas are flower, sugar pumpkin, brown sugar, and cinnamon sticks. Another food known as the Milcaos aremilcaos200.jpg very popular in Chile. These potato pancakes have been made by tradition over the years. Milcaos are a mixture of mashed potatoes and raw grated potatoes. The main ingredients in this dish are potato, lard or vegetable shortening, and butter.


Language/ Phrases to know
The main language spoken in Chile is Spanish. At some places like hotels the people speak some English. Some phrases to know are Hóla/ hello, Hablas inglés? / Do you speak English?, Buenos diás/ Good day, Muchas Gracias/ Thank you very much, and Adiós/ Bye.

Monuments

The Central Post Station in Santiago, Chile, is one of the must see monuments. The station was built in the 16th century as a home for the conquistador who founded Santiago. In the 1800’s it was used as a home for governors and presidents. In the late 1800’s the station was completely ruined by fire. The station was the upgraded in 1903, including a new story and a dome edition. When you visit you can tour the building and see the historical structure of it while reliving its past through learning the history. You can also visit the CooreosChile Post Company and the Post and Telegraph Museum located inside. The Central Post Station is open year round to visitors with no admission fees to enjoy this historical monument.

Chiles seasons are completely opposite of North America. While we are in our summer months we are in our winter months. December to March is the warmest months averaging at about 80 degrees. January is the warmest month with an average high of 86 degrees and an average low of 54 degrees. June to August is the coldest months averaging at about 39 degrees. With July being the coldest out of these months averaging at about 37 degrees. December and January are the months with the most sunlight. During the year the average hours of sunlight a day is 10.4 hours. June is the month with the least sunlight averaging at 3.0 hours of sunlight per day. Precipitation is non-existent for much of the year. During June and July is when most of the precipitation occurs averaging at 3.3 inches during June and 3.0 inches during July. From November to March the average amount of precipitation averages at less than 0.2 inches. Between June and August Chile also experiences frost for 45 days out of those months.
